Ventilate the area very well by opening windows and turning on fans.
Remove any artwork and paintings from the walls
Remove any area rugs from the floor and hang to dry
Remove wet upholstery cushions from the frame and prop them up to dry
Place plastic or aluminum foil under any furniture legs that are not plastic
Punch tiny holes in a sagging ceiling to relieve trapped water, place something underneath the holes beforehand to collect any trapped water.
Stay out of rooms where the ceiling is sagging from retained water.
Things to Avoid doing:
Panic
Leave wet fabrics in place
Leave magazines, books or other colored items on wet carpets or floors
Use a regular vacuum to remove excess water
Turn on electrical appliances while standing on wet carpets, floors or especially on
wet concrete floors.
Turn on ceiling fixtures if the ceiling is wet
